#1 Skins Weren’t There Until 2013

Gamers are willing to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on “shiny pixels” to customize the looks of their guns. However, there were no skins in CS until 2013, and everyone had to play with “vanilla weapons”.

Counter-Strike was the first game of the series to introduce the Competitive Mode and the first one to introduce skins. Valve added the first-ever weapon skins to CS2 (CS:GO) when The Arms Deal update came out on August 14, 2013.

They also announced that everyone would be able to submit their designs to Steam Workshop in the near future. Eventually, this led to hundreds of community creators making great skins for CS2 (CS:GO). Valve introduced the first community-made skin collection, Winter Offensive Weapon Case, in December, 2013. It contained thirteen skins.

#2 You Can Apply Five Stickers to Some CS2 (CS:GO) Weapons

There is a restriction on the number of stickers players can apply to a gun model. This number is four for most of the weapon skins, like AK-47 and AWP. However, you can place up to five stickers on R8 Revolver and G3SG1.

#3 A Counter-Strike Player Proposed To His Girlfriend Using a Skin

In 2020, Reddit user ejqespiritu spent a week designing a custom P90 skin with a ring hidden inside the gun’s magazine to propose to his then-girlfriend and (spoiler alert) now-wife.

His partner was actually the one to introduce him to Counter-Strike in 2014. The couple played CS for six years together until they decided to quit the game in 2020 because they had to bear responsibilities and didn’t have as much free time as they used to.

Before quitting the game for good, ejqespiritu created a P90 skin with a red box and a shiny ring inside to propose creatively. He asked his then-girlfriend to load up a game with bots and check out the skin. After a few rounds, she finally noticed something inside the magazine.

“She then reloaded a few times and finally made sense of what was inside and screamed “you serious?” as she looked back and there’s me, knees bent, holding the cheap ring I hastily bought on one hand and sporting the wryest smile before asking her to Marry Me.” – ejqespiritu on Reddit.

#4 Some CS2 (CS:GO) Stickers Have Easter Eggs

While some CS2 (CS:GO) stickers simply appear more worn when you scratch them, the others uncover hidden messages.

For example, when you scratch the Silversticker, the “Sorry about the aim” inscription appears at some point. A new Friend Codesticker has a smiling C4 depicted on it, but on a high wear level, the character becomes sad, and you can see the “Please don’t drop me” inscription below it.

Mister Chiefand Queen of Painstickers are both dedicated to other video games: Halo and DOTA 2. When you scratch the first one, the Halo logo will appear, and the second one will reveal the “You, suffer fool” text phrase.

The Welcome to the Clutchsticker reveals several rainbow-colored skulls at 50% wear level. When you scratch Kawaii T (Holo) enough, it shows the “How dare you scratch me?” text.

Keyboard Warrior, a Steam user, explored all the existing CS2 (CS:GO) stickers to discover the easter eggs they contain and created a guide with his findings. 

Some weapon skins also have easter eggs, and Nova | Toy Soldier is one of them. This skin features the pattern of toy soldiers and a tank that look like a child painted them. It starts appearing on the weapon at 0.30 wear level value. The pattern becomes fully evident starting at 0.80 wear level value which is a Battle-Scarred condition.

#5 The Most Expensive CS2 (CS:GO) Skin Ever is Worth $1,5M+

Have you ever wondered what is the most expensive CS2 (CS:GO) skin ever? Karambit | Case Hardened, owned by Newb Rage, is a “Blue Gem” variant of the knife skin. The owner of the knife bought it for $100,000 in 2016 and turned down an interested buyer who offered $1.4 Million in Bitcoin.
